Gareth Southgate’s men will travel to Dortmund to take on the world champions for a friendly before returning home for a World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday.
Shaw will receive a chance to feature for the national side for the first time since 2015, while Jones has been sent home after sustaining an injury in training.
They were seen putting in the hard yards alongside Rashford, Smalling and Lingard – who were all part of Southgate’s first England side last year – earlier today.
All eyes, however, will be placed firmly on Luke Shaw – the second most surprising inclusion in the national side behind Jake Livermore. The youngster has only managed 70 minutes in the Premier League since October and would hugely benefit from a boost in confidence ahead of what promises to be an explosive end to the season at Manchester United.
