Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has withdrawn from England’s squad to face Lithuania on Sunday after picking up an injury while in training and supporters were not impressed.
Smalling injured Man United team-mate Phil Jones with a tackle earlier in the week, ruling him our for nine weeks with a broken toe.
With the Europa League quarter-final and Premier League clashes with Chelsea and Manchester City before the end of April, Jose Mourinho will be concerned by the fact that two of his four centre-backs have been injured during the international break.
Here’s what fans on social media had to say about the situation.
Smalling and Jones need to be sold pronto. Amount of injuries they get is obscene. Both injure others in training, and themselves.

Of course, that means Rojo and Bailly won't get a rest but the less Smalling plays, the better for all involved. Last season was an exception

Jones & Smalling both injured already this happens everytime an international break occurs. They're both daft as it is #MUFC

He’s been in such poor form this season and hasn’t looked anything like the defensive master many thought he was last campaign under Louis van Gaal.
Following this week, Mourinho is left with Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo, which is something most supporters have been waiting to see, however, with no other options and a busy schedule of fixtures, the Portuguese boss will be concerned by his lack of options.
Axel Tuanzebe has been involved with the senior squad on match days and made his debut earlier this season, with Daley Blind also fit and ready, but hopes are Smalling and Jones are able to recover soon.
