Manchester United plan to trigger Neymar’s €200million release clause at Barcelona this summer, according to Catalan publication Sport.
Man United spent a record-breaking £89million on Paul Pogba last summer and could be set to more than double that to bring Neymar to the Premier League for an eye-watering £172.9million.
He has also allegedly been offered the chance to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League with a wage packet worth in excess of £415,000 a week.
The Old Trafford club have also been linked with Antoine Griezmann, Ivan Perisic and Kylian Mbappe, and it seems like fans are set for a busy summer ahead as Mourinho continues to build his side.
The report also claims that Mourinho previously promised Neymar that he’ll be in contact this summer and that he will activate his release clause.
Bringing a name like Neymar to United would be a massive statement of intent from Mourinho, who has already signed the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly in his short time at the club, and they’ve all been performing well.
He’s scored and assisted 14 and 18 goals respectively in all competitions for Barcelona this season, but it still remains to be seen if Mourinho will be able to complete the mega deal.
