Manchester United will definitely be without five key players for this weekend’s fixture against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera are both serving suspensions for the game and the international break threw up a double injury blow to Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and Jose Mourinho confirmed Paul Pogba was unlikely to feature as well.
“So we lose four [players] and I think Paul Pogba is also out,” Mourinho said. “So we lose five.”
Jones was sent home from England training after being injured by Smalling and then Chris was later sent home after suffering an injury himself. It leaves Jose Mourinho with only Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo as his two recognised centre-backs with Daley Blind also in the mix as well as youngster Axel Tuanzebe. Suffice to say, playing three centre-backs against West Brom looks very unlikely.
Pogba and Herrera both being out, with Marouane Fellaini a minor doubt after a toe injury in the international break, leaves United with problems in defence, midfield and attack. United’s injury worries have certainly come at a bad time with nine fixtures in April but we do have a strong squad and now is the time to see it put to good use.
