Manchester United fans were unimpressed with Michael Carrick during their side’s 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.
The Englishman, deployed alongside Marouane Fellaini, failed to engender any meaningful tempo at the base of midfield, resorting mainly to short passes and failing to pick out teammates further forward.
Supporters were quick to vent their frustration towards the Englishman following another excruciating home draw.

This was a game that highlighted the importance of Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to this Man United side. The duo bring a sense of momentum from midfield, providing passes into space for the likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to latch on to.
With the pair missing today, it fell on Carrick to compliment his usual poise on the ball with an air of purpose moving forward, but the 35-year-old struggled to pick the lines against a painfully rigid West Brom side. This was not for the want of trying; Carrick’s commitment to the cause, as always, was unquestionable, but his ability to unsettle West Brom’s back four from deep was subpar to say the least.
What this led to, in turn, was complete stagnation further forward, bringing with it yet another ignominious draw at Old Trafford.
