Paul Pogba trains in Old Trafford after Man United’s 0-0 with West Brom

Paul Pogba trained in Old Trafford with some Manchester United teammates after the 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion.

Alongside the other players who didn’t feature on Saturday, Pogba was back in action and that will be a welcome sight to Man United fans.

Without Pogba in midfield against West Brom we had little to no creativity from midfield. Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini were both guilty of safe football and avoided taking the responsibility to try and pass through the lines which ultimately made us predictable enough for West Brom to be comfortable in defence for the full 90 minutes.

There has been plenty of criticism aimed towards Pogba at various points this season but what was abundantly obvious on Saturday was just how crucial he is to United’s football. No other midfielder is able to thread through balls in the same fashion as Pogba and when he doesn’t play we seemingly have to rely on the opposition making a mistake rather than forcing them into one.

The return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera will be a real boost for United but arguably Pogba coming back is the single most important player who we need back in action sooner rather than later. Certainly, the game against West Brom suggested that.
