Jose Mourinho discusses Luke Shaw’s career at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho claims Luke Shaw is a long way behind his Manchester United team-mates in terms of focus and ambition.

The Englishman has made just two Man United appearances in the last four months and wasn’t even selected to feature on the bench against West Brom at Old Trafford, even with Mourinho’s injury crisis.

Mourinho decided to name Matthew Willock in the squad ahead of Shaw as he’s failed to fight for his place in the squad since his double leg break in September 2015.

Speaking about Shaw, Mourinho claims he is a long way behind others in the squad.

“It’s difficult for him to be on the bench. Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, or with Matteo Darmian, or with Daley Blind,” he said.

“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”

He was last in action over a month ago against Bournemouth and although fans are frustrated that he hasn’t been in action, Mourinho knows best and is the only one that watches players in training to judge their efforts.

Shaw had been doing extra sessions at home on top of United training, but it looks like he has to work hard for his place in the side as he must impress the Portuguese boss and come back a better player.
