Manchester United fans were full of praise for Luke Shaw following their side’s 1-1 draw with Everton in the Premier League.
The youngster, fresh from being publicly criticised by Jose Mourinho for poor work rate at Old Trafford, was introduced with 25 minutes left against the Toffees.
He immediately injected life into an otherwise languid display, bombing up and down the left flank as Man United pushed for an equaliser before winning a late penalty – which Zlatan Ibrahimovic duly converted – after Ashley Williams handled his goal-bound effort.
Man United fans were quick to laud the Englishman for mounting a convincing response to his manager’s latest remarks.

The spotlight was firmly on Shaw heading into the clash with Ronald Koeman’s side. United fans knew that, as the Englishman came on, his future at Old Trafford was firmly in the balance: 70 minutes of Premier League action since October and yet another manager – accompanying Louis van Gaal, Roy Hodgson and Mauricio Pochettino – questioning his commitment to the cause. He needed to make a statement.
And he did, furiously setting about imposing himself on an encounter that was quickly slipping from United’s grasp. For a player inundated with confidence issues and a lack of game time, his desire to throw himself into every passage of play was superb. Supporters, whilst furious at another draw, would have been pleased to see Shaw, through his penalty-winning effort in injury time, receive a reward for his efforts, and will hope that this serves as the start of a resurgence for the 21-year-old.
