Luke Shaw insists he’s determined to fight for his place at Manchester United following Jose Mourinho‘s criticism

The Englishman was left out of the squad for the clash against West Brom, but came off the bench against Everton on Tuesday and won a penalty which salvaged a late point in the dying minutes of the game.

He’s been heavily criticised by the Portuguese boss this season and his latest comments claim Shaw is currently a long way behind his team-mates in terms of his commitment and focus.

Speaking about his future, Shaw claims he’s set to fight for his career at Old Trafford.

“I am loving it here at United, the fans are incredible and have been incredible the last couple of days for obviously what has been going on,” he said.

“But I am keeping my head up and I am going to fight to the last. I am not going to give up. I love this club and I will give everything to be here.

“Obviously with the stuff that has been going on it is hard for me to take because deep down that is not me as a person. Like Jose said, he wants to see me fighting – and I will fight to the last second because I want to be here for the club.

“I want to play for the manager and I want to help this team get back to the top.”

Mourinho has claimed that Shaw’s improved this season, but he’s still making every decision for the 21-year-old from the touchline.

It’s not looking good but it’s great to hear that Shaw is prepared for fight for his place in the side, as he undoubtedly possesses a massive amount of talent.
