Zlatan Ibrahimovic reacts to Sunderland 0-3 Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given his thoughts after scoring his 28th goal of the season during Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League.

The big Swede powered the visitors into the lead following a stilted start, rifling home into the bottom far corner from the edge of the box.

He then continued to inflict more damage on the hosts with some smart build-up play, proving an assist for Marcus Rashford in the 90th minute.

And the 35-year-old, speaking after the game, noted that he was only improving with age.

“Important three points as we haven’t been winning these games. We need to keep trying and believing to get into top four.”

“It seems like the older I get, the smarter I become. I feel like Benjamin Button, I was born old and I will die young.”

The one crucial difference between Zlatan and Benjamin Button, I believe, is that the former will not perish from crippling dementia in a retirement home, but instead somehow continue to ascend to a newer, better world, like some omnipotent sage king making his next transition through eternity.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal early in the second half killed the game, but Zlatan’s first-half strike set the ball rolling. Jose Mourinho‘s men lacked fluidity and cohesion up to that point: Zlatan, Jesse Lingard and Mkhitaryan just weren’t finding each other, and so the Swede took matters into his own hands, signalling for the ball with numerous red and white shirts around him, shifting past Lamine Kone and Billy Jones before smashing Man United into the lead and indeed into the ascendancy.
