Here is all of the early confirmed Manchester United squad news for tonight’s game against Anderlecht.
Man United fans will be happy to see David de Gea back in the squad having been missing for our last two matches. It is widely expected Sergio Romero will keep his place in the starting XI as it is the Europa League where he’s been fantastic this season but the fact De Gea travelled to Belgium indicates he’ll be ready to return on Sunday against Chelsea.
Somebody who will more than likely start tonight is Antonio Valencia. He’s been rested by Jose Mourinho in the last two games and should be fighting fit for a very important game against Anderlecht. Ashley Young also returned to training this week and has travelled, so Mourinho’s options have been improved.
Paul Pogba is in line to make his first start after returning from a hamstring injury. He came off the bench in our last match but away in Europe we’ll be looking towards Pogba leading by example from midfield, hopefully bossing the game as we know he can.
One major piece of news is the omission of Wayne Rooney who was left back in Manchester by Mourinho after being deemed not fit enough to return to the squad. He’s been sidelined with ankle injuries for some time, it looks like he’ll have to wait a bit longer to get back into action.
We’ll bring you the confirmed starting XI an hour before kick-off tonight at 19.05GMT as always.
