Former England and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford following his performance during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old handed a rare chance to start up front, netted his ninth goal of the season after just seven minutes, latching onto an inch-perfect Ander Herrera pass before calmly slotting past Asmir Begovic.
He continued to harass Chelsea’s back four all game with a series of powerful runs that left Gary Cahill and David Luiz – largely untroubled figures this season – never full came to terms with.
And Lineker was quick to label the teenager as a “special” talent following another effervescent display.
Brilliant display from a 19 year old with a wonderful future. Marcus Rashford is special.

There is something about Rashford’s approach that defenders can’t quite get their heads round. Neither Cahill and Luiz are blessed with pace but they have built their success this season on clever positioning and raw power to quash the threat of quick strikers.
But Rashford offers something else – a kind of shocking immediacy, almost like when a car nearly hits you – when he gets going that initially puts defenders in a stunned haze, if only for half a second before they can act. But half a second is all the Englishman needs sometimes; he was simply too much for the league leaders.
