Jose Mourinho addresses Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has spoken out about Anthony Martial‘s future at Manchester United, claiming he needs to start working hard to get back into the first-team.

The Frenchman has been in and out of the starting line-up at Old Trafford after struggling with consistency and has not been able to replicate his form from his debut season under Louis van Gaal where was the club’s top goal scorer.

Mourinho has previously asked Martial to improve his game as he’s contributed just seven goals and six assists in 32 appearances for United this season.

Speaking in his press conference, Mourinho believes Martial still has the ability to become a very successful player.

“Do I think Anthony is a player with great potential? Yes,” he said.

“Do I think he can play successfully for me? Yes. But he needs to give me things that I like very much.

It’s a shame to see his talent being wasted on the bench as fans are completely aware of what Martial is capable of and it’s clear Mourinho is just trying to get the best out of him, as we saw earlier in the campaign.

Hopes are he can put his head down and work hard because the Frenchman has an incredible future ahead but just needs to take Mourinho’s comments on board.
