Ronald Koeman has warned Romelu Lukaku he may not reach his Champions League dreams at Manchester United as he can’t see Jose Mourinho‘s side finishing inside the Premier League top four this season.

Man United are hoping to get back into the Champions League next campaign through the Europa League as they’re now in the semi-finals or the Premier League as their within touching distance of the top four.

Koeman believes Man United’s chances of finishing in the top four is over with Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s injury ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Speaking about a potential move, Koeman claimed a move would not be a step up in Lukaku’s career.

“Romelu Lukaku will not be taking a step up in his career if he leaves Everton for Manchester United,” he said.

“I cannot see Manchester United finishing in the top four, Koeman told the Mirror. “Zlatan’s injury looks bad and when I look at a number of matches they are having to play this season, I can see them missing the top four.

“I have not been impressed by the way they play. The fact that Man United were struggling to beat a team like Anderlecht, proves what kind of season the club is having.”

Lukaku has previously claimed he won’t sign a new deal at Goodison Park and with Ibrahimovic’s new injury Mourinho will be on the lookout for a new striker.

He’s only 23 and is proven in the Premier Leauge which will be a massive upside when the Portuguese boss considers his options this summer.
