Luke Shaw will feature in the European 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Poland over the summer.
He was handed a place in Gareth Southgate’s senior squad for games against Germany and Lithuania back in March despite only managing 70 Premier League minutes since October.
But according to the Mirror‘s James Nursey, he will feature for Aidy Boothroyd’s U21 side – who are in a group with hosts Poland, Slovakia and Sweden – over the summer.
Moving from the senior side to the U21s may seem like a step down, but the upcoming European Championships serve as a fantastic opportunity for Shaw.
The Englishman has previously noted that, following such a long spell of anonymity, all he wanted to do was play as much as possible – to demonstrate his worth to those that have questioned his dedication to the cause this season.
Mourinho will be watching Shaw very closely as he embarks on Poland. His performances over this period could dictate whether or not the Portuguese opts to sign another left back over the transfer window.
