Jose Mourinho has told Ander Herrera, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David de Gea he will not stand in their way if they choose to leave Manchester United during the summer transfer window, according to Marca.
The Portuguese boss has allegedly made it very clear that he won’t keep anyone that does not want to stay and will instead try and get the best possible deal for their services.
There’s been a growing concern over de Gea’s future at Old Trafford as he’s been continuously linked with a move to Real Madrid, and Ibrahimovic has been associated with a move to the MLS at the end of the season, especially with his recent injury, but the surprising inclusion was Herrera.
Marca claims that Mourinho has told Ibrahimovic, Herrera and de Gea in private that there is a possible chance of recruitment for those who have received offers from other teams.
It’d be highly unlikely for Mourinho to be up for selling some of his best talents at Old Trafford even if it does mean fighting off interested parties as they’ve been vital players in the first-team this season.
The estimated price for de Gea is believed to be around €60m, but Mourinho will need to try and tie the Spaniard down at United as he’s proven to be irreplaceable.
If any player was truly unhappy under the Portuguese boss then I would completely understand Mourinho’s thinking as he wants players that are committed to the cause and will be looking to send a statement of intent to the squad.
