Jose Mourinho called the pair out earlier in the week, claiming they should be brave and play rather than sitting on the sidelines and he wasn’t impressed once again.
Especially with Marcos Rojo‘s long-term injury, you can understand why he’s pushing players to step up again, but if they’re not fit enough then there isn’t much the Portuguese boss can do as they shouldn’t be rushed back prematurely.
With a busy schedule of fixtures in the Europa League and in the Premier League, it’s a vital time of the season for the side in their aim of a Champions League qualification and a current injury crisis will not help the situation.
Just leaving #MUFC – Pogba out of derby with injury and, to Mourinho's irritation, Smalling and Jones not made themselves available

Mourinho won’t be pleased with the duo as he’s previously claimed he loves players that put the need of the team ahead of their own, which is how Luke Shaw got back into his good books as the Englishman stayed on for extra time in the Europa League clash against Anderlecht even though he was suffering from cramps.
It’s clear Mourinho is trying to get the most out of his players but although he won’t be impressed with Smalling and Jones, surely it’s not wise to rush them back whilst they aren’t ready?
