Manchester United are not the only team heading into the derby tonight with injury concerns as Manchester City face some late fitness tests.
The good news as far as City is concerned is that Sergio Aguero will be available. He was a doubt after coming off in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal but he’ll be ready to play having missed the derby at Old Trafford earlier this year.
Gabriel Jesus could also make his first appearance in three months but won’t be anywhere near match fit, so I’d be surprised if he was fit to start.
As fo David Silva, Guardiola doesn’t expect him to play. Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “David Silva real, real doubt – I don’t know if he will be ready to play after what happened in the first minutes in the semi-final.
“Gabriel has no pain at all so is ready but [after] three months out his physical condition is not optimal.
“Sergio is much better. Today he make a part of the training session. Tomorrow he will be ready.”
As well as those three players the likes of John Stone, Bacary Sagna and Fernandinho all face late fitness tests. Here’s hoping Fernandinho doesn’t pass it because with Paul Pogba out we’re going to struggle to control the midfield and he’s their best midfielder.
Tonight is such an important game at a crucial part of the season where neither team can really afford to lose it. Who will start? Who will come out on top? Not long until we find out!
