Robert Pires believes Paul Pogba has the ability to become the best player in the world at Manchester United.
He has been accused of being overrated this campaign after becoming the world’s most expensive footballer and has often been unfairly criticised even when he has performed well.
The Frenchman has struggled with consistency at times and his social media presence hasn’t helped, but he’s showcased what he’s capable of and has been a massive blow while sidelined through injury in recent weeks.
Speaking about his potential, Pires understands what Pogba can go onto become.
“I think he’s just getting started and will only get better. People are still forgetting he’s a young player, he’s only 24, so United fans need to be patient with him.
“It’s not Pogba’s fault that Manchester United spent the money they did on him.
“He’s got so much potential to be the best player in the world in a few years.”
Pogba is world-class at the age of 24 and it’s scary to think about but there’s much more to come as he continues to pick up experience at United in the Premier League.
He’s been left on the sides with a hamstring problem picked up during a 2-0 victory over Burnley, and fans realised just how vital he’s been as he wasn’t in action against Manchester City in the 0-0 draw, with the midfield failing to keep hold of the ball in his absence.
