Eric Bailly pictured leaving Old Trafford following injury against Swansea

Eric Bailly has been pictured leaving Old Trafford with a bandaged right ankle following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City in the Premier League.

The Ivorian, making his eleventh consecutive start with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo all injured, battled hard for 60 minutes before going down following a clash with Fernando Llorente.

He made an attempt to carry on but swiftly pulled up before being replaced by Matteo Darmian after 60 minutes, leaving Mourinho with no recognised senior centre backs available.

Bailly was seen leaving the Theatre of Dreams with a bandaged right ankle soon after the 1-1 draw with Paul Clement’s side.

The 23-year-old was the last player Mourinho would have wanted to see drop to the treatment table; he was also perhaps the most likely to fall victim to a niggling injury following 960 minutes on uninterrupted football intersected by games with the Ivory Coast.

It is not an overstatement to say that Bailly has put himself through hell over the last few weeks: not even for one second, even in the face of overwhelming fatigue, has he shirked away from putting himself on the line, and supporters will just pray he returns to action as soon as possible.
