Manchester United have contacted Torino to register their interest in striker Andrea Belotti, according to Mark Ogden.
Jose Mourinho is allegedly looking to sign two forwards at Old Trafford this summer, with Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann the priority target.
He is considering a move for Belotti, who has enjoyed a spectacular campaign with 27 goals in 34 appearances, with 25 of those coming in 31 Serie A games.
Writing for ESPN, Mark Ogden claims senior figures at Man United have discussed a move for the Italian even though there is a €100 million release clause in the contract, which only applies when the player moves to a club outside Italy.
He only signed his deal in December which will tie him to the club until 2021 and it’s a massive price to pay for a player that may not even perform in the Premier League.
United have already been linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Griezmann, and they’re the preferable option for that price range, but the Portuguese boss will keep his options open so he’s not left in the dark in the summer.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to be out until January 2018 at the earliest, and his career at Old Trafford uncertain, it only makes sense to recruit some new talent over the summer, especially with United’s well-documented struggle in front of goal this season.
