England are set to be without Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford for the upcoming European Under-21 Championships this summer, according to reports.
Rashford will have the final say on whether he goes or not, but he is set to appease his manager’s wishes as Jose Mourinho has previously claimed the youngster will not go Poland at the end of June as he needs time to rest.
Although the Times claim the 19-year-old is happy to take part and pick up some much-needed experience of tournament football, there’s a slim chance he’ll take part.
He’s played a vital role at Old Trafford this season but it’s only set to get more important with Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined for the next 12 months and his future at Old Trafford uncertain as he’s yet to extend his deal.
Rashford has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to perform on the main stage and there’s no need to rush him into anything as it’ll be important to keep him in the best possible condition without taking any risks on his availability.
He’s set to be named in Southgate’s senior England squad for the World Cup qualifier with Scotland on June 10, and there’s no doubt he’ll show the world what he’s about if he’s given the opportunity.
