Thierry Henry believes Jose Mourinho will have the last laugh at Manchester United if they manage to win the Europa League this season.
Man United were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal over the weekend, which all but ended their chances of finishing in the Premier League’s top four, however, with many key players rested for the Europa League clash against Celta Vigo ahead this Thursday the side have a good chance of progressing.
He made eight changes from the squad that beat Celta Vigo in Spain and there was a clear shift in focus for the club’s best chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Speaking about the side, Henry insists Mourinho could still come out on top at Old Trafford.
“That’s exactly that,” he said.
“That’s what he’s waiting for. To say at the end of the day ‘we are going to be in the Champions League’.
“‘I knew we were going to win it’ and have two trophies.
“So you find yourself in the situation where he’s going to have the last laugh at the end of the day.
“I’m sure he’s waiting to tell us he was right!”
Hopes are the team can continue to reach their goals in the Europa League as favourites to win the competition.
It’s looking good for the side and with the Premier League no longer a top priority, there’s no reason to hold back.
