Manchester United fans not impressed with Daley Blind’s performance against Celta Vigo

Manchester United fans were left dissatisfied with Daley Blind‘s performance during their side’s 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo in the Europa League.

The Dutchman, rested over the weekend, made a shaky start with two misplaced passes in the opening five minutes before picking up a booking for a needless foul after losing the ball.

He begun to show signs of assurance alongside Eric Bailly in the second half but looked decidedly flat-footed as Celta mounted a late, nerve wracking surge following the Ivorian’s dismissal.

And supporters were quick to jump on the 27-year-old’s back for what was an uncharacteristically shaky display at the back.

Something didn’t look quite right with Blind from minute one. The Dutchman picked up the ball at the back and went to play a simple ball out left to Matteo Darmian, only to find Iago Aspas instead. He has been a source of equanimity at the back during their march towards the final but this was a fitting precursor to a leggy, unsure display alongside the indomitable Eric Bailly.

But with the Ivorian now suspended for the trip to Stockholm you can expect another start for Blind against Ajax. And he will, no doubt, have to improve dramatically against his former side if United are to reach Champions League football next season.
