Jan Oblak’s agent, Miha Mlakar claims two clubs have contacted Atletico Madrid over a potential transfer for the possible replacement for David De Gea.
He’s reportedly a top target for Jose Mourinho, with De Gea’s future at Old Trafford increasingly uncertain as Real Madrid look to complete a deal for the Spaniard after his move in 2015 collapsed in the closing minutes of transfer deadline day.
Mourinho will want to keep De Gea at Man United, but if he can’t convince him to stay, he will be looking at alternatives early so Man United aren’t left without any options at the end of the summer window.
Speaking about a potential move, Mlakar has opened up about clubs that have a possibility of signing the Slovenia international.
“His future? It’s too early because there are still League games to play, but it’s true that, like I’ve always said, there’s a lot of interest in the best goalkeeper in the world,” he said.
“Above all, there are two clubs that are really interested in Oblak for next season.
“One is certainly from the United Kingdom. Italy? Please, is this a serious question? In Italy, only Juventus are at the top level and they have Buffon, who’s now in the Champions League final.
Oblak has a £85m release clause in his contract and it’ll put off most clubs that look to create a potential deal for him this summer.
United will want to try and keep hold of De Gea, especially if his replacement who isn’t as good in between the sticks will set the club back around £85m.
