Josh Harrop has expressed his delight after scoring on his debut during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old, who claimed a hat-trick at Under 23 level against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week, was handed his first ever appearance for the senior side against Sam Allardyce’s men.
And it was an afternoon that he will never forget after claiming a thunderous opening goal after just 15 minutes, setting the tone for an ebullient display on the left hand side.
Harrop, speaking after the game, noted that scoring on his debut was a “dream come true”.
Harrop: "Amazing. I have dreamed of that moment so many times so I cannot believe it came true. I have to thank Mourinho." #MUFC

The youngster’s goal was much more than a joyous, dream-like moment; it was, in many ways, a fitting microcosm of his overall game, of what he can perhaps offer Jose Mourinho further down the line.
His movement behind Palace’s back four to find some space started it all off. Then came the inch-perfect ball from Paul Pogba, but there was still plenty to do. Undeterred, Haropp turned swiftly, holding the ball close and shifting it onto his right foot, before providing the crowning moment – the most notable aspect of his game: a thunderous finish.
Man United have desperately missed that conviction in front of goal this season. How many times have players wasted early half chances, only to then limp to another galling draw at home? The debutant reminded his senior of how it was done, paving the way for a routine win over Sam Allardyce’s men and perhaps further chances over the summer.
