Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to complete the signing of Antoine Griezmann this summer.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after claiming in a recent interview that he’s ready to leave Atletico Madrid for trophies and that he has a six out of 10 chance of joining Man United.
Man United are prepared to pay a substantial fee for his services and although Mourinho will face stiff competition for his signature, a win over Ajax in the Europa League final will help them sign the top players with Champions league football to offer.
Speaking about a potential move, Ferdinand believes Mourinho must make a move to sign Griezmann.
“For what Manchester United need, I would go for Griezmann,” he said.
“They’ve got [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan and [Juan] Mata – players who can play in that number 10 role, where Rodriguez likes to operate – so I would go for Griezmann.”
Man United were able to sign the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba last summer, and another similar summer could see the side seriously challenge for the Premier League title next campaign.
The summer transfer window hasn’t even begun and we’ve been linked with the top names in football and there’s no doubt it’ll only be set to intensify.
