Manchester Evening News claim Man United’s qualification for the Champions League ahead of next season has increased the chances of the Spaniard staying past the summer.
The side have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak as he’s said to be identified as a replacement in between the sticks for De Gea.
He is contracted to United until 2019 and the club has the option of extending it by an additional year, and United will be looking to cash in a substantial fee for their star asset.
Mourinho has spoken out about the Spaniard’s future, claiming he expects him to still be with the team when they face LA Galaxy in their pre-season tour opener.
Mourinho will be looking for possible replacements this summer as he won’t want to be left without any options and with Sergio Romero throwing his name into the hat, it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.
