Manchester United legend Bryan Robson admits he would be surprised if Wayne Rooney decided to stay at Manchester United past this summer.
The Englishman has enjoyed an incredible career at Old Trafford after making the move from Everton at the age of 18, but has lost his automatic starter role for club and country.
He had previously addressed speculation, claiming he was committed the cause at Old Trafford, but recently admitted there are a lot of offers on the table and that a decision had already been made.
Speaking about a potential move, Robson insists it may be time for Rooney to move on and pick up first team football elsewhere.
“I’d be very surprised if Wayne is with us next season because I think he wants to move on to get first team football,” Robson told BBC Radio Five Live.
“I know Wayne really well, he will be really disappointed that he has been left out of the England squad… he has been involved with the squad all the time, he’s been training, he has played a lot of the league games of late.”
He’s won five Premier League titles, one Champions League, the Europa League and one FA Cup crown during his time at United.
Rooney will always be considered a club legend and it’s a shame that the situation has come to this, but others on the side have proven they have more to offer.
