Antoine Griezmann has handed in a transfer request to Atletico Madrid according to sources close to the player in Spain.
COPE’s Antonio Ruiz reports that Griezmann handed in the request while away on international duty with France this week ahead of games with Paraguay, Sweden and England.

These claims add further fuel onto the Manchester-United-bound-fire which Griezmann himself stoked by saying there was a 60% chance he’d be moving to Old Trafford in the summer. However, a transfer request is only one piece in the puzzle for Man United as far as Jose Mourinho is concerned.
Griezmann’s release clause of €100m stands whether or not he hands in a transfer request, so United are unlikely to get the Frenchman for a price any cheaper than that. Add in the fact Atletico will not want to make this an easy transfer, the likeliness of it being completed in the next two weeks does seem tough.
One point to note here is that if Griezmann has indeed handed in a transfer request, he has done so before knowing whether Atletico’s transfer ban will be overturned. That’d be quite a major talking point as many believe he would never consider leaving Atletico to join United this summer if the Spanish side were unable to spend the money on adequate replacements.
Whatever the situation, the growing Griezmann rumours are intensifying with each passing day and United fans are all desperately hoping at this stage that it hasn’t just manifested into another summer transfer saga which leaves us empty handed.
