Manchester United and Manchester City have both expressed concrete interest in Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy, according to L’Equipe via Sport Witness.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester, and although Man City are considered favourites in his signing, Man United is also a possible destination.
Barcelona, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also interested in pushing a deal through and Monaco are in a strong position as a transfer would believe to be around €45m.
Pep Guardiola has clearly proven his intent to overhaul the Man City squad to turn them into contenders for the Premier League title, and Mourinho will be on the same path.
The Portuguese boss confirmed he handed his list of summer transfer targets to Ed Woodward two months ago, and a qualification for Champions League football will be a right step in acquiring the best talent.
Reports claim there has been no wage agreement between Man City and Mendy, and United will be determined to get in while there is still time because as we saw from the Bernardo Silva deal, they’re moving very quickly this summer.
Man United have struggled to keep a consistent left-back this season and should Mourinho complete a deal for Mendy, it won’t look good for Luke Shaw‘s future at Old Trafford.
