Manchester United will be ready to resurrect their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann next summer, according to reports.
The club are said to be confident he will resist any attempts to move away from Atletico Madrid over the coming 12 months after confirming he’ll stay this summer.
He was made a primary target for Jose Mourinho this transfer window, however, official sources claimed the priorities had been switched to securing an orthodox number nine.
Griezmann confirmed his decision to block a move to Old Trafford came as the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the Spanish club’s transfer ban until January next year and it would have been a low blow to leave Atletico without a suitable replacement in place.
Both parties have not discussed the potential of a deal in the future, however, we saw this when David Moyes signed Ander Herrera in 2013 as an initial deadline day deal for the then Athletic Bilbao midfielder was put on hold only for him to sign 12 months later in a £29m deal.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s serious knee injury has forced the side into looking at replacements for the big Swede, and with him yet to sign a new deal, his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.
