Manchester United will face Real Madrid in the 2017 European Super Cup after they overcame Juventus in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Cristiano Ronaldo helped inspire a convincing 4-1 win over Juventus at the Millennium Stadium as they made history in the progress and became the first ever team to defend the Champions League trophy.
Speaking about the fixture, Mourinho claims it’ll be an hour to face the best team in Europe.
“Any team that wins the Europa League should feel honoured to be able to take on the best team in Europe with the European champions Real Madrid,” he said.
“We have made a tough European League for a lot of reasons but we recognise that the best teams are in the Champions League. In the Champions League is a new thing for many of our players. Our pre-season will be interesting.”
The match is set to take place on August 8, four days before the 2017/18 Premier League season is due to kick off.
With players linked with moves to each side, the game will throw up a number of plot twists as the Portuguese boss is set to take on his former side for the first time since he left the Bernabeu back in 2013.
