Manchester United are closing in on a £50m deal for AS Monaco’s Fabinho over the summer, according to reports from Spain.
He has once again been on the club’s radar following another excellent season and even recently admitted to being open to an Old Trafford move.
And Spanish outlet have claimed that a “remarkable advance” has been made over the last few days on a deal for the Brazilian.
Fabinho has piqued Mourinho’s interest for some time, and it was thought last summer that he would come in for the seemingly Serie A bound Matteo Darmian. In the end, no such move transpired; Fabinho was, after all, on the Portuguese’s list of “supplementary targets” and he probably felt at the time that he didn’t need to invest any further.
This time around, however, Fabinho’s ought to be one of Mourinho’s main targets: the 23-year-old has plenty of years ahead of him and has only improved at Monaco over the past year, offering a tantalising combination of midfield efficiency and, when needed, solidity and attacking impetus as a full back.
