Manchester United target Romelu Lukaku has confirmed his decision to leave Everton ahead of the new season.
He had already confirmed negotiations were underway about his future after he announced he wanted to play Champions League football next season and win the Premier League title.
Although he’s been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, Man United are still in for a shot of bringing him to Old Trafford in a deal which is expected to be worth more than £80million.
Speaking about a potential move, Lukaku claims he is unlikely to be at Everton next season.
“Staying at Everton? That’s not really an option I think,” he said at the Belgium press conference.
Jose Mourinho has been looking for an alternative striker after cooling interest in previous top target Antoine Griezmann following his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, claiming it would be a low blow to leave during their transfer ban.
He made Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s replacement a top priority following his injury and the club have already been heavily linked with a striking talent, with a bid for Alvaro Morata rejected and a move for Andrea Belotti looking more likely, even with his massive release clause.
