Manchester United target Alvaro Morata has told Jose Mourinho he would like to play alongside Real Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez next season.
They’ve both been massively linked with a move to Old Trafford as speculation surrounding the duo continues to grow.
Man United made a £52m bid for Morata earlier in the week and after having an initial bid rejected, the side are now looking to allegedly up an offer to around £60million.
Speaking about the situation, Morata says he hopes to play alongside James once more in 2017-18.
“Who knows, maybe we’ll be team-mates next year,” he said. “Hopefully no [James will not leave], because I like him a lot. He’s a great player.”
“You always want to play for Spain. Unless I have a serious injury, I always want to come. We had it in the final few minutes, it got away from us but it’s a good sign because it could easily be a match in the quarters or semis of a World Cup and we responded.
“We’re two national teams with great pride.”
Morata headed in a late equaliser in Murcia to secure a 2-2 draw and has scored eight goals for Spain since the start of 2016.
Alongside James at Old Trafford, the pair could be an incredible duo and there’s no doubt they both have all the right attributes to go on and become top players.
