Manchester United have cooled their interest in Burnley centre-back Michael Keane after closing in on a deal for Victor Lindelof, according to reports.
Lindelof is allegedly set to complete his move to Old Trafford following a medical on Wednesday when he returns from international duty with Sweden.
A transfer is expected to cost around £35 million and will make him Mourinho’s first signing of the summer after failing to acquire his services in the January transfer window, with the Portuguese boss happy with the form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo at the time.
Keane is set for a move away from Turf Moor after a stunning season and many believed he’d make the move back to Old Trafford as the side would receive a 25 per cent discount due to the terms of his deal when initially left.
A move for him is now unlikely as Mourinho is set to complete the deal for Lindelof next week and with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly still at the club, the Portugues boss will have plenty of options.
Mourinho is plugging holes in the team just as he did last summer, and it looks like United fans are set for another quick transfer window as he hopes to complete deals early once again.
