Manchester United have announced a deal has been reached with SL Benfica over Victor Lindelof, pending the successful completion of a medical.
Lindelof, 22, will become Jose Mourinho’s first signing this summer but the deal cannot be made official until a medical is completed as well as international clearance and personal terms being finalised.
The deal will be worth €35m as an initial payment plus a potential extra €10m based on achievements by Lindelof throughout his career.
An official statement from the club read as follows: “Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms.
“A further announcement will be made once the transfer is complete.”

Just like Eric Bailly before we signed him, I haven’t seen much of Lindelof prior to his United move and like Bailly I have my fingers crossed it works out just as well.
If there is one thing Mourinho is superb at in the transfer window then it is to do with defenders. He spots a good quality defender and has a brilliant track record of turning them into powerhouses. After so much uncertainty in defence at United for a good few seasons, Lindelof and Bailly gives us the potential platform for a wonderful partnership which could help steer us towards silverware.
