Antoine Griezmann has agreed to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid which will keep him at the club until 2022.
Club president Enrique Cerezo confirmed that he will sign a new deal believed to be worth in the region of £12.3million, equating to £236,000 a week.
He’s endured an eventful campaign and there has been massive speculation over his career after claiming he was ready to leave Atletico, with a 60 percent chance he could move to Old Trafford.
Speaking about a potential transfer, Cerezo revealed the release clause will still remain the same.
“It’s one more year and the release clause will remain the same,” he said.
“The issue of the money is a private one.
“We have maintained a confidentiality agreement with respect to the money.”
Griezmann has come out in support of Atletico, claiming it would be a low blow to leave during their current transfer ban.
The release clause of around €100 million is still the same and because United were already willing to pay that price, it won’t push them away when they come back next summer as the price to pay will remain the same.
