The big Swede was back in action just days after confirmation that he would not be offered an extension to his one-year contract.
He will continue to use Man United’s training facilities as he looks to recover from a cruciate ligament injury which ended his season in the April Europa League win against Anderlecht.
Shaw and Young are expected to be fit for the new season, however, they are both are technically out of contract next year which could mean Jose Mourinho will sign a full-back in the summer.
Young was forced into surgery with a groin injury sustained in the Europa League semi-final first leg against Celta Vigo, while Shaw had picked up an ankle injury against Swansea in April.
United’s squad is not due to return to Carrington for pre-season medicals until July 8, but Shaw and Young have been determined to work on their fitness and work through the pain barrier, something Mourinho loves in his players.
They’ve gone about the situation in the right way and there’s no doubt Mourinho will be impressed with their commitment to getting back in action.
