The club previously revealed a £30.7m (€35m) fee to sign the Swede had been agreed, with a further £8.8m (€10m) payable based on performance incentives.
He arrived at the club’s Carrington training base after flying into Manchester on Wednesday morning to undergo a medical and was officially announced later in the day.
A move had been delayed due to his commitments on international duty with Sweden as he was an unused substitute in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Scandinavian rivals Norway, however, he finalised a move as soon as he was available.
Here’s what fans on social media had to say about his transfer.

Lindelof and Bailly as a centre back pairing with De Gea in the sticks! Dreamy!

The Lindelof deal has finally been completed and the situation is exactly the same as in June 2016, where the Portuguese boss landed Eric Bailly early on in spectacular fashion.
United were linked with a move for him in January but decided against a transfer due to the form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo at the time, however, Mourinho has showcased his no-nonsense business as hopes to turn the side into title contenders.
He has options at the back now, and with the likes of Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Phil Jones competing for a spot in the team, even with Chris Smalling set to leave, the players will be pushing their team-mates to get the absolute best out of themselves.
