Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata could complete his transfer to Manchester United by the end of the week, according to reports in Spain.
A deal is said to be very close to being finalised as an official announcement is expected to be confirmed after Madrid’s upcoming presidential elections.
Man United are on the lookout for a new striking talent after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had been officially released by the club following his cruciate knee injury.
Reports claim Real are holding out for a fee of around £78m while Man United are only willing to go as far as £70m in their pursuit of the Spaniard.
Madrid’s hierarchy are well aware that they have no reason to sell Morata, as Zinedine Zidane has been pleased with his contribution this season, with 20 goals in all competitions, even with a lack of game time.
The Spanish club are not currently in a position of signing their priority target, as they are hoping to collect the funds raised to try and lure Kylian Mbappe away from Monaco.
His agent confirmed that United have made an official offer, with the decision now in Real’s hands, it seems like they won’t let Morata leave without getting the best possible deal.
