Manchester United’s pursuit of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has dragged out over the last couple of weeks but reports in Spain suggest Man United are confident of sealing the deal in the next few days.

COPE in Spain say United are hopeful of announcing a deal for Morata on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. The hold-up has always been around the price United are offering Real Madrid for Morata because the Spaniard wants to move, he’s desperate for first-team football. If United can announce it by Tuesday, then there will have been some big movement in the negotiations between Ed Woodward and Florentino Perez in the last couple of days.
It’s a tough one for United. We don’t want to overpay for Morata but we’re signing him from Real Madrid when they don’t want to sell him and when you add in the context that we refused to give them David de Gea, then you can understand them digging their heels in over the transfer.
I really do hope COPE is right and the transfer can be resolved early next week because if it isn’t then I can see transfer dragging out into July.
