Man United risk missing out on Ivan Perisic over €55m transfer fee

Manchester United aren’t having much luck this summer in terms of clubs demanding fees from us.

Real Madrid are holding out for €75m for Alvaro Morata and Inter Milan are standing firm in their €55m price tag on Ivan Perisic. As reported by
ESPN, Inter are not budging on the price and despite needing to raise money before the end of June to meet FFP requirements following their fine for breaking the rules in 2015, Inter are proving to be a tough club to negotiate with.

Mike Keegan from the Daily Mail suggests United are still absolutely confident of completing a deal for Perisic within the next few weeks but just like the Morata move, it’s delicately balanced.

United’s issue is that every club knows how much money we have. After all, Forbes just named United as the most valuable football club in the world ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona. When you look at it from that angle, you’d be foolish not to try and squeeze United for as much money as you could get.

Is Perisic worth €55m? Absolutely not but the value of a player is more to do with how much he could improve a team rather than his market value these days because the market is effectively hyper-inflated thanks to TV deals. If Mourinho really does think Perisic will bring a lot to United next season, then he’ll pay that much.
