Cristiano Ronaldo would prefer move to Manchester United if he leaves Real Madrid – report

Cristiano Ronaldo has pin-pointed Manchester United as his preferred next destination if he does indeed leave Real Madrid this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 32-year-old, who has spent eight seasons at the Bernabeu and claimed three Champions League titles in the process, no longer wants to play in Spain, as revealed by Sky Sports on Friday.

Man United are reportedly weighing up the idea of bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford and would, according to Marca, have to shell out a mammoth sum of £174.5m for his services.

And Di Marzio has stated that, while Paris Saint German are willing to pay the required sum for Ronaldo, the 32-year-old would prefer a move back to the Premier League.

We should remember that, for all the noise surrounding a potential return to Old Trafford, news of the Ballon D’Or’s desire to leave Madrid dates back to only around 48 hours ago at the time of writing.

This saga will, no doubt, rumble on for some time, taking numerous twists and turns in the process, as is commonplace for transfers of global interest. But nobody can deny the feeling of providence when entertaining the idea of Ronaldo, following eight years of asserting himself as perhaps the greatest of all time, coming back to the place where it all started to round off what has been an historical career.
