Manchester United agree personal terms with Benfica’s Anderson Talisca – report

by Leo Nieboer

Manchester United have agreed terms with Benfica forward Anderson Talisca following a promising loan spell with Besiktas last season, according to reports from Turkey.

Talisca, who can play both out wide and at No.10, endured a couple of frustrating campaigns with Benfica before finally realising his potential with Besiktas last season, claiming 17 goals.

The Brazilian recently noted that that he had attracted interest from Jose Mourinho, with whom he enjoys a good relationship, and expressed a clear desire to play at Old Trafford next season.

And according to Turkish outlet AMK, the 23-year-old, who has a release clause of £22m, has agreed a move with Man United.

Talisca is not especially well known in this country and the consensus from Portugal claims that, for all his shrewdness on the ball and astonishing pace, he lacks the work rate necessary to succeed at a higher level. It could perhaps be telling that he seemingly found his level in the Turkish league after struggling in the Primeira Liga.

That said, players can change and are learning all the time. He would offer Mourinho a more direct option from out wide, but would need to demonstrate first a capacity for reaching the lofty standards set on the training ground.
