AS Monaco’s Fabinho will complete his move to Manchester United next week after it was revealed a fee had been agreed for the 23-year-old.
It was reported by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport earlier today that a €35m fee (plus €5m in add ons) had been agreed for the 23-year-old.
Fabinho, an instrumental asset for Monaco during their romp towards Ligue 1 success last season, previously noted that he would be open to a move to Old Trafford.
And according to Davide Russode Cerame, the same journalist who broke the news of Fabinho’s imminent move, Fabinho will become a Man United player next week.
Mourinho, in an ideal world, would have wanted to sign Paul Pogba before pre-season above anyone else, but for a number of reasons had to wait until August.
This time around, however, it looks like he will be able to ingratiate his chosen midfield lynchpin from the very start. The importance of this cannot be overstressed; Mourinho will want to see Fabinho and Ander Herrera accustomed to working together in close conjunction, marshalling the midfield with a mixture of strength and shrewdness on the ball, by the time August comes around.
