Manchester United are very close to completing a €50m deal for AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, according to Gianluca di Marzio.
In the latest update on Fabinho, Di Marzio reports that negotiations are underway between Man United and AS Monaco and that is music to the ears of United fans who have been desperate to hear a positive update on Fabinho.
With Nemanja Matic being so heavily linked with a move to United after Chelsea’s pursuit of Tiemoue Bakayoko, United fans were concerned that Jose Mourinho had chosen not to go after Fabinho but Di Marzio’s update shows that is not the case which is brilliant news.
Fabinho would be a superb signing by Mourinho, an ideal signing to strengthen a midfield which is lacking in depth as far as the defensive midfield role goes. Michael Carrick is not fit enough to be our first choice in that position week in week out and in terms of a balanced signing, there won’t be a better one made by any other club than Fabinho.
Mourinho was meticulous last summer with his signings and got all four players that he wanted in the transfer window. United have signed Victor Lindelof to strengthen a key area, now it looks like Fabinho is going to strengthen another in midfield and it’s fantastic news.
