Ander Herrera sends message of support to injured teammate Marcos Rojo

Ander Herrera has paid a visit to Marcos Rojo and given his teammate a message of support as he continues to recover from knee surgery.

The Argentine, who quickly emerged as Manchester United’s most consistent defender last season, suffered knee ligament damage during a 2-1 win over Anderlecht in April – the same game that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic sustain the same affliction.

He went under the knife shortly after and is predicted to return to action by the new year.

And Herrera has paid a visit to his convalescing teammate in Portugal, noting that the 27-year-old’s recovery was going well.

The fact that Rojo’s knee ligament injury coincided with Zlatan’s has led to us, as supporters, failing to acknowledge the severity of losing a player at the height of his powers for such a sustained period of time.

In a way, the Argentine’s injury is more detrimental to United moving forward than that of the big Swede. The addition of Victor Lindelof will, of course, give Jose Mourinho some respite in that department, but United are a considerably stronger, more compact outfit with Rojo lining up at the back, and supporters will just hope he can rediscover the same level of imperiousness once he does return.
