Manchester United are on the verge of completing a deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports from Spain on Monday evening.

Marco Ruiz, writing for Spanish newspaper AS, says Real Madrid are still holding out for more than the current €70m offer from Man United for Morata and have been negotiating hard to increase that fee by pointing out his age, career left ahead of him and a lack of top class centre-forwards available in the market.
For a club of Real Madrid’s wealth to be dragging out the negotiations for a player like this is indicative of their intent to spend big on somebody like Kylian Mbappe this summer but United are staying firm and that’s a positive sign as too often we’ve got the bum end of a transfer deal. In the Morata saga, United are leading the negotiations.
Ruiz goes on to say Morata has completely made up his mind and wants to move, all that is needed is the ‘green light’ from Real Madrid so he can get on a plane to Manchester and move to United to re-join Jose Mourinho.
This is the signing of the summer which will have the sprinkling of gold dust on it. This is where United’s goalscoring problems will hopefully be resolved and as Ruiz is suggesting, that deal should be finalised sooner rather than late with everything now so close to a deal being completed.
